NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- An FA-/22 Raptor assigned to the 422nd Test and Evaluation Squadron sits on the flightline at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., as Maj. Michael Hernandez, 422nd TES FA-22 pilot discusses preflight operations with Senior Airman James Douglass, 422nd TES FA-22 crew chief. The FA-/22 is the newest fighter in the Air Force inventory. It is currently undergoing test and evaluation and is tentatively scheduled to be operational in late 2005.
